Introducing The Costs Journal

The Costs Journal is a free publication drafted by Christopher McCauley, who is a specialist Costs Counsel at Guildford Chambers, and David Hill a Senior Costs draftsman at Crown Costs.

The aim of The Costs Journal is to encourage debate and create a better understanding of costs law. The Summer Edition focuses on the Jackson reforms, the definition of the concept fundamental dishonesty and looks at the Pre Jackson guidance, relating to exaggeration cases, and sets out why the Court of Appeal’s approach is misguided.

Further, the Journal questions whether the common law principles relating to credit hire undermine the new rules and looks at the impact of an indemnity basis order on costs budgeting.

There are also more general articles explaining the rules of QOCS and showing why there is no utilitarian benefit in raising the small claims limit.
