It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our friend and colleague, George Coates.
George was a distinguished barrister and served as Head of Chambers for 18 years, leading Chambers with exceptional dedication, integrity and humanity. His contribution to the profession, and to the life of Chambers, was immense. He was widely respected for his leadership, generosity and steadfast support for colleagues and clients alike.
After stepping down as Head of Chambers due to ill health, he remained greatly valued as a member of Chambers and a friend to many. Throughout his illness, he showed remarkable courage and dignity.
He will be deeply missed by all at Chambers. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones at this very difficult time.
Donations in George’s memory may be made to The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust and The Brain Tumour Charity, in recognition of the care and support they provided during his illness and the importance they held for him throughout that time.
